Ackermat Inc. was established in 1993 by its two principals.

Ackermat's President, Joe Matesa, received a BSEE in 1987 and MSEE in 1990, both from the University of Pittsburgh.  Since then, he has developed electronic circuits and products ranging from ion beam production and control to large electric motor drives.  He has completed numerous projects involving high voltage power supplies and techniques, thermal management, EMI mitigation, programmable logic, SMPS transformer design, and a variety of microcontrollers and DSPs.  He holds six US Patents.

Ackermat's Chief Operation Officer, Claudine Matesa, received a BSEE in 1987 and MSEE in 1990, both from the University of Pittsburgh.  From 1987 to 1994, she performed hardware and software design for development of various instruments related to the material characterization industry.  From 1994 through 1996, she managed the manufacturing operations of a rapidly growing producer of electron microscopes and related equipment.  She has consulted on various projects ranging from development of low-resistance and torque measurement equipment for DoD-sponsored investigations to the implementation of ERP and document control systems.  Recently she has concentrated on embedded software for measurement and control instrumentaion as well as printed circuit board design and layout.
